A True Drive-In Movie Experience for the Whole Family

This past weekend, my dream came true! We picked the kids up from a week at summer camp and I was thinking about how they’d be tired and we should probably relax, snuggle and catch up on sleep, but instead I had a great idea. I’ve always grown up watching movies and tv shows with drive in movie theaters and thought it was the nearest thing. I’ve always wanted to go to one and figured now’s as good a time as any to try it. I kept it a secret until we got there as they had a double feature with Inside Out 2 and If.

It’s a really neat place that also has a ton of history behind it and this place officially opened in 1946 as a family run business. They have a train ride that goes around if you get there early enough for the littles and apparently weekend pony rides!

What I found so amazing was that it cost just about the same as a regular movie theater experience, but had a double feature and was an experience for sure. It was $12 an adult ticket, $8 for a kid and free for those under 2. We had the option to sit in the car, the trunk or in chairs. There were two huge concession buildings with French fries, popcorn, nachos, candy and a ton of other things, but we loved the Mango slushies and of course packed our own snacks from home.

We had the option to drive in for the 9pm movie and leave or stay for the second feature at 11pm. It was a later night for sure, as the kids passed out halfway through the second movie and we drove home around 1am. It was definitely an adorable date night option and isn’t very far from the Pocono and Lehigh Valley areas.

It was just like in the movies and highly recommend for a date night, girls hangout or family friendly activity. It’s cost effective and an adventure for sure!

    Fun evening for all.

I miss drive-ins. I’d like to see both those movies.
