New York Girls Weekend in Review

In my eyes, there aren’t too many things that compare to a family vacation. The experiences, excitement, unplanned craziness, and memories to last a lifetime. The one thing I found recently that matches that energy or comes in at a close second are girls weekends. They are absolutely needed, are always long overdue and something you’ll never regret!

Recently my friends and I took a trip to New York City. It was a crazy 36-hour whirlwind overnight that allowed us all to hang out, relax, and just simply enjoy each other’s company. I’ve always said that vacations, trips and weekend getaways were too expensive, but when you’re splitting it multiple ways, it makes it so much more realistic and easier to handle, especially if yours is a little last minute like mine.

My friend booked a hotel in the Lower East Side in NYC. This adorable little hotel was complete with an outdoor pool, restaurant and nightclub all in the same building. We got in at 10:00 PM on Friday after a mini road trip. We went up to the room, got changed and enjoyed a little nightclub experience which was quite awesome if you ask me. The next morning we woke up, found a cute little coffee shop with some incredible bakery items and sat by the pool. It had a mini bar outside and they delivered you some cold water to whichever couch or chair you preferred. We found a Saturday afternoon rooftop bar with dollar tacos and $9 Margaritas which even in the heat was the best afternoon ever! Walked around a bit before having an awesome dinner at a tapas style restaurant followed by a few more bar hangouts and places that made us laugh ridiculously.

I’m constantly making excuses on why I shouldn’t go on trips throughout the year by myself, but I’ve never once regretted actually going on one. What makes it even better is if you’re going to a place that’s usually more expensive like the beach, New York, or a hot spot like New Orleans or Nashville… You could spend close to $500 a night on a hotel. But hear me out… You’re staying somewhere for two nights or for a long weekend and you’ve got four people in a room. You’re splitting that price and making it extremely reasonable.

Now I’m a planner and love to have things set in stone ahead of time. This allows me to save money over time so it doesn’t feel like an overwhelming amount. if you’re spending $250 on a weekend at a hotel, plus food, drinks and extras you’ll want to save about $500 to $600 easy. I’m all for saving $100/$150 a paycheck minimum on my “travel fund.” So if I’m putting money towards a hotel it’s going to be a separate paycheck to my fun spending money the weekend of. I’ve spent the first part of my life playing it safe, saving every penny and always saying no to the trips and fun things. And if I’m being honest, I’ve regretted all the trips I had said no to. Especially the weekend birthday party in Vegas, and especially the all inclusive couples getaway and I can’t live my life like that anymore. I’m at a time In my life where I’m excited to go on trips with my family, travel the states, but also spending time being with friends. It makes my heart extremely happy! So I’m making sure I do that more!

As I have more and more trips planned and a few in the works, I thought it would be nice to share the places along the way with recommendations and price points.
