You know when you live close to a tourist spot and people are shocked you don’t go there often? For example, I grew up 45 minutes outside of New York City and I wasn’t there all the time. I know people travel pretty far to see a hidden gem in the Poconos, the Country Junction!
Whether you are inside the largest general store or exploring the outside, the whole family will enjoy the 3 acres! They have an animal and fish area complete with reptiles, puppies, ferrets/bunnies and a full aquarium. They have talking robotic animals along the way as you follow the yellow brick road around the store. With so many fresh local made treats to look at you’ll be choosing between fudge, candy, jars of jams and fruit butters. One of our favorites is the tub of popcorn!
They have a full arcade with games, mini bowling, and bumper cars, but we go most often for the Ace Hardware store. The back is a one stop shop for all things house projects from renting tools, painting, furniture, building materials, etc. You’ve definitely gone in and spent tons of time looking at the puppy dogs or staring at the bearded dragon. They always have something cool and new to experience, especially their newest iguana.
They have the themed activities and festivals outside scattered throughout the year for holidays and fun. They have Mother’s and Fathers Day weekends coming up including their infamous strawberry festival in June. They have drinks, winery and distillery samples, baked items, treats, special jam/jelly, anything you can think of. They have a free petting zoo, carnival and pony rides, fair food/drinks, local vendors and sometimes gem mining. It’s a cheap, fun, budget friendly way to spend a few hours outside with the family.
